A simple, easy way to get help when you are in an uncomfortable situation in the stadium – that’s what the question ”Which way to Panama?” will give you.
”Wo geht’s nach PANAMA?” (Which way to Panama?) – immediate help in every situation. A simple, easy way to get help when you are in an uncomfortable situation in the stadium – that’s what the question ”Which way to Panama?” will give you.
Security staff, volunteers and fan representatives: there are already a number of contact points to make people’s visit to the stadium as pleasant and safe as possible.
The ”PANAMA” concept has been developed to further optimise this and create a fixed point of contact for people who need it. The offer is intended for anyone who feels unsafe, threatened or harassed and who has experienced discrimination of any form, sexual violence, sexism or physical harassment.
The club worked alongside FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktion GmbH to adapt their ”PANAMA” concept for visitors to the stadium.
“The situation that is deemed threatening has no bearing on the help measure provided. In principle, no distinction is made as to who needs help or when and why help is needed. The situations can range from feeling unwell, overwhelmed or suffering sexual assault. All those seeking help must be taken seriously,” explains Daniel Lörcher, head of Corporate Responsibility at BVB.
Borussia Dortmund have set up the PANAMA room in the stadium for this purpose, which is supervised by DRK psycho-social emergency care workers on match days and is always accessible to those seeking help.
What is more, a PANAMA team has been set up. These staff members will look after those in need and, if required, accompany them to the PANAMA room, the first-aid room, or provide additional help, depending on what the situation calls for. The PANAMA team and all stadium staff have been informed about the PANAMA concept and can be approached at any time by any one.
