BVB fans have saved 81,365 tonnes of CO2. Using green electricity from Strom 09 ®, BVB fans have saved a total of 81,365 tonnes of CO2 emissions – that’s one ton for each seat in the club’s home stadium.
Since the launch of the partnership, seven different social projects in the Dortmund area have been supported. Each project received a donation amounting to 5,000 euros.

Fans of Borussia Dortmund have saved a total of 81,365 tonnes of CO2 emissions since 2013 – one ton for each seat in Signal Iduna Park. This incredible achievement was made possible by Strom 09 ® , the green electricity tariff put on the market through a collaboration between Borussia Dortmund and LichtBlick.

LichtBlick and the BVB Foundation have “lit up” the stadium to commemorate milestones reached on the way to achieving a “full house” for climate protection, such as when 25,000 tonnes of emissions were saved (equivalent to one ton for each seat in the South Stand) or 42,800 tonnes (to match the capacity of the old Westfalenstadion (42,800). In addition, since the launch of the partnership, seven different social projects in the Dortmund area have been supported. Each project received a donation amounting to 5,000 euros. “Our fans not only provide the best atmosphere in the stadium, but also far beyond. And that’s an important signal, especially in times like these. That’s why we want to convince even more BVB fans to get involved in protecting the climate, “says Carsten Cramer, BVB’s Chief Marketing Officer.
