There were fun, games and high spirits all round on Wednesday as both BVB staff and players got together to celebrate the club’s annual summer festival in Signal Iduna Park.
On Wednesday, Borussia Dortmund took the exceptional decision to close for business at midday, and with good reason: a special event was about to take place. All members of staff at BVB – including the first-team squad and the entire coaching team – got together at Signal Iduna Park to celebrate the annual staff summer festival.
A motley collection of activities were organised to ensure that an atmosphere of sporting competitiveness was upheld outwith daily training. All those in attendance had the chance to paint, create, solve puzzles and answer questions. Some players and employees found themselves involved in an intense go-cart race, some tried to guess the number of various everyday objects in ”The Price is Right”, while others tried their best to get a high score in football darts and thus help their team shoot up the leader-board.
After two hours of competition, the winners were able to celebrate their triumph by the finest of margins: Lukasz Piszczek and Julian Brandt’s team emerged victorious, just edging out Marco Reus and Marius Wolf. A tombola, some good food and one or two light refreshments rounded off what was a successful summer’s day for all involved.
