500 season tickets to be allocated via the waiting list

The long wait is over – well, it is for some of the most patient BVB fans out there, who are finally getting their reward for their many years of loyalty!

The long wait is over – well, it is for some of the most patient BVB fans out there, who are finally getting their reward for their many years of loyalty!

BVB have cancelled around 500 season tickets in accordance with the no-show policy that was devised in cooperation with the Fan Department and the Fan Council. The reason is simply to ensure the continuation of the unique atmosphere in our stadium, the most beautiful in the world. BVB always want to have their stadium sold-out and season ticket holders who are there to support their team at every game – rather than just selected matches.

At this point, we would like to emphasise once again that season ticket holders must attend at least 10 home games throughout the course of the season. Anyone who is prevented from attending at short notice can allow a friend or acquaintance to use their season ticket. Furthermore, placing the ticket on the official BVB Secondary Ticket Market via our Ticket Shop counts as “use” of the season ticket.

The season tickets that have become available will now be allocated entirely via the waiting list. The reallocated season tickets will be go to the first 207 occupants on the waiting list for a seat and the first 283 occupants on the waiting list for a standing space. The ticket system will automatically allocate season ticket holders with a place. For organisational reasons, we cannot offer an individualised place selection procedure.

“Our objective is to continue on our chosen path and to reallocate the season tickets as fairly and transparently as we possibly can,” said Matthias Naversnik, the BVB Head of Ticketing. “However, an additional element of these fairness efforts is that a place on the waiting list shall be forfeited if a season ticket offer is rejected. We know that some fans would like to be watching the BVB matches from a specific place, but at the same time our main concern is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to give our BVB their passionate support – wherever they might be placed in the stadium. Together with the new BVB season ticket holders, we’re already looking forward to the first matchday and a successful 2019/20 season.”

Anyone who is high enough up on the waiting list to be entitled to a season ticket will receive a reservation letter along with a season ticket subscription contract by post in the coming days. Additionally, those BVB fans will be informed by e-mail that a season ticket offer is on its way by post. The subscription contract must be completely filled out and returned to BVB (by mail, fax or e-mail) by 26 July. The SEPA direct debit payment shall take place on 1 August. The season tickets will be delivered on time for the first home game of the season against FC Augsburg.
